USA Freestyle Kayaking is pleased to announce the creation of a National Championship Point Series for 2010. The series will consist of the following 5 events:
NOC Freestyle Shootout, Bryson City, NC - April 17, 18:
Lyons Outdoor Games, Lyons, CO - June 11-13;
FIBArk, Salida, CO- June 18-20;
Gunnison River festival, Gunnison, CO- June 25-27.
US Freestyle Team Trials*, Missoula, MT- June 30-July 2.
Points awarded based on finish position at each event with bonus points awarded for the top three spots in preliminary, semifinal, and quarterfinal rounds. A breakdown of points can be found here. The final event, USA Freestyle Team trials in Missoula, MT, will award doubled point values.
Current Point Standings
In order for points to count toward the National Championship, competitors must be current members of USACK at the time of the event. USA Freestyle Kayaking has negotiated a reduced membership rate for the point series (1 year membership for $15 for Juniors, $20 for adults, or $60 for families). YOU MUST USE THIS FORM to receive the reduced rate. Forms will also be available at the participating events. Competitors not wishing to earn points toward the National Championship do not need to be USACK members to compete in the individual events. Finish positions of competitors not participating in the point series will still be counted when assigning points for individual events. ie, if the 3rd place finisher is not competing in the series, the 4th place finisher will still earn points based on a 4th place finish.
*Juniors who turn 18 in 2010 (are are therefore not eligible for a spot on the Junior team in 2011) will be allowed to compete in both Juniors (to earn points toward the National Championship) and the senior (for team trials) at the Missoula event only.
