USA National Championships to be held in Columbus, GA!

USAFK is STOKED to announce that this year’s USA National Championships will be held in Columbus, GA on April 14th and 15th at the RiverWalk Island during their Paddle South festival.

Friday, the 14th – Preliminary Competition   4-8pm

Saturday, the 15th – Final Competition  10am-6pm

We’re aiming to compete on the Good Wave at higher flows. Columbus has a fantastic warm, big-water feature in a very cool city. Details below.


Columbus Ga Whitewater is excited to announce Paddle South, a celebration of the best paddling location in the south, coming April 14th and 15th of this year at the Eagle & Phenix water tower. The two days will consist of the 2017 USA Freestyle Kayak National Championships, and a beer and barbeque festival.

On Friday evening, the 2017 USA Freestyle Kayak National Championships will start the weekend’s festivities. Kayakers from all over the country will compete for the national title in Columbus Ga Whitewater’s Good Wave, located in front of RiverWalk Island. The competition will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end around 8:00 p.m. on Friday night. Saturday morning, the competition will kick back off at 10:00 a.m. and last until 6:00 p.m. Award ceremony will be held at the barbeque and beer festival at Eagle & Phenix water tower.

On Saturday at 4:00 p.m. the barbeque and beer festival will open its gates at the Eagle & Phenix water tower. Guests will be met with over 20 different southern barbeque vendors, an Omaha Brewing biergarten and live music. Entrance into the festival is $5 and all food and drinks are for purchase.

USA Freestyle Kayaking is the governing body for the sport of freestyle kayaking in the USA, affiliated with US Canoe & Kayak (USACK). USAFK’s mission is to promote the sport of freestyle kayaking through education and competition throughout the United States. To this end USAFK maintains the official rules and regulations for the sport, sanctions events throughout the country at all skill levels (including National Championships and Team Trails), and represents the United States within the International Canoe Federation (ICF).
